When mounting the Wanderer ETA onto certain models of OAGs, a 0.1 mm thick light-leak preventing gasket may be required between the ETA and the OAG to ensure proper sealing and prevent any stray light from entering the optical path. Previously, this gasket was made of stainless steel. While stainless steel provides excellent mechanical strength and dimensional accuracy, its reflective surface may introduce unwanted internal reflections under specific conditions, even though no such issues have been observed so far.
For better performance, WandererAstro has developed a new black light-leak preventing gasket made from PEEK (polyether ether ketone)—a high-performance engineering plastic known for its mechanical stability, chemical resistance, and exceptional light-absorbing properties. This new gasket is now included as a standard accessory with every Wanderer ETA. Although the production cost of the PEEK version is 25 times that of the stainless steel version, it offers significantly improved anti-reflective performance while maintaining the same 0.1 mm thickness.
We will be shipping new gaskets to all our distributors. If you don't have the gaskets, feel free to contact your distributor or reach out to us directly — we’ll provide it free of charge. All new ETAs will include the new Polyetheretherketone gaskets. If you already have stainless steel gaskets, you can use a black marker to darken the gasket surface and achieve a similar effect and a shipping fee may apply for replacements.
At WandererAstro, we continue our commitment to providing a premium experience—delivering excellence in both hardware and software, down to the finest detail.
